Livestock statistics
Legal basis
The legal basis for conducting surveys in the field of livestock statistics is the Law on Official Statistics and Official Statistical System (Official Gazette of Montenegro, No 18/12, 47/19 and 23/25) and the Annual Plan of Official Statistics.
Aim of the survey
The aim of surveys in the field of livestock statistics is the collection, processing and dissemination of data on the number of livestock and poultry by type and category, production of products of animal origin (milk, eggs, wool and honey), quantities of raw cow’s milk purchased and dairy products obtained in dairies, as well as the number and net weight of livestock and poultry slaughtered in slaughterhouses.
Source of data
Data for business entities are collected by the reporting method, while data for family agricultural holdings are collected through an annual sample survey.
Data obtained from reporting units are considered an official secret and are used exclusively for statistical purposes and may not be published or made available to any user. Collected individual data on agricultural holdings may be used exclusively for statistical purposes, are presented at aggregate level and are considered an official secret.
