This release contains data received through the Labour Force Survey conducted in the first quarter 2012, and the observation period was from January to March 2012. The surveying was done in 2 340 households on the territory of Montenegro. The survey collected data about demographic characteristics for members of the households (7 089 persons were surveyed), and data about economic activity for persons aged 15 and more (5 819 persons, which makes 1.2% of the total number of interwied persons aged 15 and more).
According to data for first quarter in the 2012 labor force in Montenegro consist of 243.3 thousands of active population. From that number there were: 193.0 thousand employees and 50.3 thousands unemployed. The number of employees in comparison with the previous quarter has decreased 0.9% and  the number of unemployed has increased  17.2% . The activity rate for the first quarter 2012 is 48.6%, the employment rate is 38.5% and unemployment rate is 20.7%. Measures of the activity of the population for 15-64 age group are: the activity rate is 57.2%, the employment rate is 45.2% and the unemployment rate is 20.8%.
