Statistical Office of Montenegro on 12 July 2011, has published the first final results of the Census of Population, Households and Dwellings in 2011 that was conducted from 1-15 April 2011. Release “Population of Montenegro by sex, type of settlement, ethnicity, religion and mother tongue by municipalities in Montenegro” contains data on the number of population, sex, the type of settlement, ethnicity, religion and mother tongue by municipalities in Montenegro.

According to the results of Census of Population, Households and Dwellings in 2011, in Montenegro there are 620 029 inhabitants, 50,61% are women, and 49,39% are men. The biggest number of inhabitants has Podgorica-185 937 that represents 30% percent of population of Montenegro, and then Niksic and Bijelo Polje. In these three municipalities there is about 50% of total population of Montenegro. Municipalities with less number of population are Savnik 2 070, Pluzine 3 246 and Zabljak 3 569.
