Monthly inflation in August 2014 remained stable
Consumer prices in Montenegro in August 2014 compared with previous month remained at the same level. Consumer prices in August 2014 compared with the same month of previous year were lower for -0.7%. Growth rate of consumer prices in period January-August 2014 compared with the same period of previous year was -0.4%.
When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.7%); Recreation and culture (+0.7%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.2%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (+0.2%); Health (+0.2%); Transport (+0.1%), while a drop of prices was recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (-1.8%); Restaurants and Hotels (-0.3%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.1%).
European Union annual inflation was 0.5% in August 2014, unchanged compared to July, while Euro area annual inflation was 0.4%, also unchanged compared to July. In Montenegro, in August 2014, consumer prices measured by the HICP, compared with the same month last year were lower for -0.7%.
Positive annual inflation rates in August were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.7%); Health (+1.7%); Restaurants and Hotels (+1.4%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Communications (-3.9%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.4%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.4%); Recreation and culture (-1.3%); Clothing and footwear (-1.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.8%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.3%); Transport (-0.3%).
