Monthly deflation in March was -0.1%

Monthly deflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was -0.1% in March. This was influenced mostly by decrease in prices of: oils and fats; accommodation services; domestic services and household services; mineral water and soft drinks.

When observing the main groups, monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.8%); Restaurants and Hotels (-0.7%); Recreation and culture (-0.3%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.2%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.1%), while a growth of prices was recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (+1.2%); Health (+0.8%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.1%).

European Union annual inflation was 0.6% in March 2014, while Euro area annual inflation was 0.5%, down from 0.7% in February. In Montenegro, in March 2014, consumer prices measured by the HICP, compared with the same month last year was lower for -0.4%.

Positive annual inflation rates in March were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+7.2%); Health (+2.7%); Restaurants and Hotels (+1.3%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+1.3%); Education (+0.2%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.1%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Clothing and footwear (-4.9%); Communications (-4.3%); Recreation and culture (-2.6%); Transport (-1.6%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.2%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.2%).
