Monthly inflation in July was +0.7%, while the annual inflation up to 2.7%
Monthly inflation measured by Consumer price index was +0.7% in July, while the annual inflation up to +2.7%. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment; tobacco; electricity; milk, cheese, and eggs; meat; accommodation services and telephone and telefax services.
The growth of inflation rate was also generated by rising VAT from 17% to 19%.
When observing the main groups monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+4.4%); Restaurants and hotels (+2.9%); Transport (+2.0%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+1.4%); Communications (+1.1%); Health (+0,7%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.6%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.4%); Recreation and culture (+0.4%); while a drop of prices is recorded in group Clothing and footwear (-1.8%). Prices in the groups: Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance and Education remain at the same level as in the previous month.
Positive annual inflation rates in July were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+6.8%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.0%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+3.3%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+2.8%); Health (+2.4%); Education (+0.2%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Hotels and restaurants (-4.0%); Clothing and footwear (-2.7%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.5%); Communications (-0.8%); Recreation and culture (-0.2%).
