Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) February 2013


Monthly inflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was +0.2% in February. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of vegetables; fuels and lubricants; mineral water and non-alcoholic drinks; beer; wine and other food products. Annual inflation in February was +3.1%, and it is lower than in January, when it was +3.8%.

When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.1%); Transport (+0.6%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.5%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.4%); Health (+0.3%); while a drop of prices was recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (-1.2%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.2%); Recreation and culture (-0.2%); Restaurants and Hotels (-0.1%). Prices in the groups: Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance; Communications and Education remain at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in February were observed in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.1%); Clothing and footwear (+6.1%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+4.9%); Restaurants and Hotels (+3.6%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+2.7%); Communications (+2.5%); Transport (+1.4%); Health (+1.2%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in groups: Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-3.1%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-1.8%); Recreation and culture (-0.7%).
