Pre-primary education and child care 2012/2013


In Montenegro there are 34 pre-primary institutions of which 21 institutions are public and 13 are private, with the network of 115 child care units, within which there were organised 526 child care groups.

In school year 2012/2013 there were 15 317 enrolments of children in pre-primary institutions. Of this number, 47.7% were girls. There is an increase of 9.2% in number of children enrolled compared with school year 2011/12. In public institutions there were 97.2% children enrolled.

In public pre-primary institutions an average number of children per child care group is 30, while this average is 11 in private pre-school institutions. The highest average number of children per child care group is in Danilovgrad, and it is 39.

The highest average number of children per child-care worker is in Tivat, and it is 22. Of the total number of employed in the pre-primary institutions, 56.7% are child-care workers.
