This release contains data received through the Labour Force Survey conducted in the first quarter 2019, and the observation period was from January to March 2019. The surveying was done in 2 108 households on the territory of Montenegro. The survey collected data about demographic characteristics for members of the households (6 181 persons were surveyed) and data about economic activity for persons aged 15 and more (5 332 persons).

 

According to the data for the first quarter of 2019, there were 276.6 thousands of active populations in Montenegro, out of which there were 235.1 thousands of employed persons or 85.0% and 41.5 thousands of unemployed or 15.0%. The number of persons in employment in comparison with the previous quarter has decreased by 0.9% and in comparison with the same quarter of previous year has increased by 4.5%. The number of unemployed in comparison with the previous quarter has decreased by 8.6% and in comparison with the same quarter of previous year has decreased by 4.2%. There were 224.5 thousands of inactive populations. The number of inactive in comparison with the previous quarter this number has increased by 3.4% and in comparison with the same quarter of previous year has decreased by 3.1%.

 

The activity rate for the first quarter 2019 is 55.2%, the employment rate is 46.9%, the unemployment rate is 15.0 % and the inactivity rate is 44.8%.
