Minimum food basket for a four-member household is used to determine the money needed to purchase a minimum standard of calories.
A new methodology of calculating the minimum consumption basket is based on the HBS, which is done on a sample of 1560 households, and that includes all food items whose consumption is recorded in surveyed households.
The value of the minimum food basket consists of:
• minimum required expenditures for food and beverages (which includes 130 food items);
• minimum required expenditure for non-food products and services;
• value of imputed rents.
