Legal basis
Legal basis for production of statistics on deaths statistics is Law on Official Statistics and Official Statistical System of Montenegro (Official Gazette of Montenegro 18/12), and Annual Plan of Statistical Surveys (Official Gazette of Montenegro 53/11).
METHODOLOGICAL BASES
Purpose of death statistics
The purpose of statistics on deaths is to collect the data necessary for the analysis of natural changes of population in Montenegro and municipalities, mortality, and other indicators. The aim of statistics on deaths is to describe natural changes of population by using the number of deaths.
Data sources
The data source is administrative – register of deaths This data source is managed by the Ministry of Interiors.
The data are collected on the basis of Agreement on Data Submission signed between Statistical Office of Montenegro and Ministry of Interiors.
Coverage
Statistics on deaths covers all cases of deaths entered in the register of deaths.
Protection of individual data
On the basis of agreement on cooperation signed between Statistical Office of Montenegro and Ministry of Interiors, the data submitted to Statistical Office of Montenegro does not contain characteristics which allow the identification of persons.
