Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) December 2014

Monthly deflation in December was -0.3%

Monthly deflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was -0.3% in December 2014. This was influenced mostly by decrease in prices of: fuels and lubricants for personal transport;; fruit; meat; furniture and furnishings.

Observing the main groups, monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Transport (-2.7%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.3%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.2%); Clothing and footwear (-0.2%), while a monthly growth of prices was recorded in groups: Restaurants and Hotels (+0.8%); Health (+0.1%).

European Union annual inflation was -0.1% in December 2014, down from 0.3 in November, while Euro area annual inflation was -0.2%, down from 0.3% in November. In Montenegro, in December 2014, consumer prices measured by the HICP, compared with the same month of the previous year were lower for -0.6%.

Positive annual inflation rates in December were observed in the following groups: Health (+3.6%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.8%); Clothing and footwear (+0.6%); Restaurants and Hotels (+0.3%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Transport (-5.1%); Communications (-3.5%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.7%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.9%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.7%); Recreation and culture (-0.4%).
