Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) September 2014

 Monthly deflation in September was -0.4%

 
Monthly deflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was -0.4% in September 2014 while consumer prices in September compared with the same month of previous year were lower for -0.9%. This was influenced mostly by decrease in prices of: bread and cereals; fuels and lubricants for personal transport; meat; catering services.
 
When observing the main groups, monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Restaurants and Hotels (-5.1%); Transport (-0.9%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.4%), while a growth of prices was recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (+3.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.1%); Recreation and culture (+0.5%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.3%); Health (+0.1%).
 
European Union annual inflation was 0.4% in September 2014, down from 0.5 in August, while Euro area annual inflation was 0.3%, down from 0.4% in August. In Montenegro, in September 2014, consumer prices measured by the HICP, compared with the same month last year were lower for -0.9%.
 
Positive annual inflation rates in September were observed in the following groups: Health (+2.1%); Clothing and footwear (+1.7%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.5%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Communications (-3.9%); Transport (-2.2%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.3%); Recreation and culture (-1.2%); Restaurants and Hotels (-1.0%), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.9%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.9%).
