Primary schools and schools for children with special educational needs beginning of school year 2013/2014

The data provided in this survey refer to number of departments, pupils, and teachers (by gender, class, and municipality), in primary schools, resource centres and special classes for education of children with special educational needs in primary schools, at the beginning of school year 2013/2014.

Regular primary schools in Montenegro, in school year 2013/2014 were attended by 68 133, showing a decrease of 0.8% compared with previous 2012/2013. Of those, 47.9% are girls.

The number of departments in primary schools in Montenegro is 3 273, thus there are 21 pupils per department in average. In regards with the fact that 4 952 teachers work in Montenegro, we reach the conclusion that there are 14 pupils per one teacher. Of the total number of teachers, 74.7% are women.

Number of registered pupils in I class is by 3.4% higher than previous school year and it is 7 715 pupils, i.e. 11.3% from total number of pupils of primary schools,47.3% of that number are female pupils and 52.7% are male pupils.

In resource centres and special classes for education of children with special educational needs in primary schools in Montenegro, in school year 2013/14 number of pupils was 177, which represents decrease by 3.8% comparing to previous school year 2012/13. From that number female pupils are 32.2%.
